Why participate in “Hands Lanka 2009” Handicraft & Giftware Exhibition

“Hands Lanka 2009” Handicraft & Giftware Exhibition is held at Kandy, the heart of Handicraft & Giftware artisans.

There are quite number of such artisans around Kandy and have been practicing the arts and crafts for centuries.

The timing:

This event is held during the world famous, one of the biggest Buddhist celebrations of the year in Kandy, the annual Esala Perahera. This is a religious ceremony during which devotees pray for good rains to cultivate the crops. One of Buddhism’s most sacred relics, the Sacred Tooth is taken from the Temple of the Tooth and paraded through the streets.

Following this, more festive events take centre stage and visitors can expect to see a lively cast of dancers, jugglers and fire-breathers milling amongst the crowds.

Therefore it all blends together, the culture, art and a craft ad tradition of Sri Lanka which also attracts the tourists coming to Sri Lanka.
