ACD PARTICIPANTS
Two participants from each ACD member country will be invited;
· one representing the government in economic/trade/SME development and
· private SME sector chamber/association to be officially sponsored by the ACD
The government representative should be a senior official, in charge of economic / trade policy-making or regulatory body in SME policy in the country. The other representative from the SME sector should be a senior manager of an influential SME chamber/association, or a prominent and well-respected CEO/ business owner/ senior manager of a SME. A strong interest in advocating policies and possess a good understanding of the relevant issues of SME development by the participant is expected.
Nomination of candidates
- Member countries are requested to nominate two qualified candidates in accordance with item 12 above. The key criteria for selection is whether their qualifications and work experience match the nature of the conference. Nominations from member countries should reach Sri Lanka by 30th June 2009. Selection of the candidates will be notified during second week of July 2009.
- Member countries are requested to inform the Organising Secretariat (OS) in Sri Lanka details of participants at least 2 weeks before the start of the conference. If they do not wish to participate in the conference so that vacancies thus created can be freed up and logistics re-arranged.
* Last-minute withdrawal is not encouraged.
- Accepted participants are (strongly) advised not to engage in any private business activity during the entire duration of the conference. Furthermore, they should promptly inform the OS of their inability to participate 2 weeks before the start of the conference and any reason for withdrawal.
- Preparation of country papers
In addition to the researchers of selected countries, other participants, (once officially accepted by the OS) are required to prepare brief country papers and presentation materials in line with relevant topics suggested in the scope given in item 10 above. The country papers and presentation materials include the country’s definition of SMEs and present practices/ policies( as well).
The papers and Power Point slides must reach the OS by 15th July 2009.
